This video is from an auction where the client had two identical items. They had to get at least $2,700 for the 1st package in order to get a second. We talked about the best way to raise that money and decided to start a little below the minimum and try to get the bidding going. Once it took off it was all in our auction hands. As a professional auctioneer our job is to raise as much money for the organization as we read the audience. During this bidding we knew that our one bidder did not want to raise the bid to $4,100 and the other bidder was stopping at $4,000. We were able to then ask the bidder at $3,900 to match the $4,000 price and we sold both packages and made everyone happy! Raising the group $8,000 in just a minute! Everyone had a blast at this auction.

Part 3/3 features the final part of the MOCA Happening Doug Aitken’s performance “WE”. The performance was composed and created by Aitken and was accompanied by sound treatment effects from Beck and Devendra Banhart. Sonic tables, designed by Aitken and used for the guests’ dinner, are suddenly cleared and manned by percussionists. The steady rhythm of the sonic tables is soon joined by the call of cattle auctioneers that emerge unexpectedly through the crowd; as their chants accelerate they merge with the haunting vocals of urban gospel choir singers. As the performance activates the entire room “WE” builds to a crescendo that’s punctuated by the violent and hypnotic rhythms of a whip cracker.
This MOCA Gala raised over $3 million!
